  • Re: Comprehensive Block book?

Very interesting. I am still a novice when it comes to EQ7 so, after looking at the BlockBase addon, I wasn't sure if I wanted to invest more in the program. I like it but it doesn't seem to play well with my cutting dies so I am on the fence. I'll see if I can improve my skill with the program first. Thank you for the information, knowing

Kris, thanks for the information! I have one of Barbara's other books, the one on the civil war patterns, and wasn't very thrilled with it. I bought the kindle edition instead of a print edition of that book so it's very often tough to use and the photos can't be resized....and it crashes/freezes up a great deal. I'll see if the

Roxana, That is good to hear. The description I found online sort of hinted at that and some of the reviews I read said she'd given some history but it's good to know it's in-depth. Thanks so much for responding!

  • Comprehensive Block book?

Hello all, I'm curious to see if anyone knows of or can recommend a good book which contains a great deal of older blocks and, perhaps, information regarding their history and/or origin. I am a historian in addition to being a quilter and wondered if anything like this existed? I was thinking of buying "5,500 Quilt Block Designs" by Maggie

  • Marmalade Dream quilt

This is a baby or small child's quilt which I've been working on for a few days. I've had this charm pack - Marmalade by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics - in my stash for a while now. While playing with EQ7, I decided to see if this would look good as a chevron quilt. After sewing this together, I wish I could find more Marmalade!

  • Re: Quilt Shop

I'm not sure if you'd considered it yet, but the Small Business Administration (sba.gov) has a whole lot of great resources for new business owners. In fact, they have a nice online business plan builder. They also offer counseling and have many articles on a wide variety of business related topics. I've used the site pretty extensively

Robyn, welcome! I'm in Bryan so hello fellow Texan! That definitely sounds frustrating. I learned through a variety of methods. I looked through several quilting books and found one that I clicked with. I really liked Elizabeth Hartman's "The Practical Guide to Patchwork." I also watched a lot of Youtube videos as well. Starting out

  • Spring Pinwheel Quilt

I created this quilt using two charm packs from Kate Spain's Cuzco line from Moda Fabrics. The backing is also from Cuzco. I free-motion quilted this on my Janome Horizon 7700.

  • Re: cutting machines

Hello arleenszcz, I have and regularly use an AccuquiltGo. I was skeptical when i first got it (I received it as a gift) because not all the dies are very economically designed - i.e. the shapes are spaced in such a way that you waste fabric. But, if you stick to the geometric shapes and strips, you can find dies that have multiple triangles or squares
