  • Re: Pressing Seams

Weezee, I've never pressed them open before but i'll certainly practice it. I was told in my first quilt class that pressing open weakens the integrity of the quilt (it could pull apart easier). do you know if this is true?

  • Re: Does anyone use a Husqvarna Rose

Hello Frances, I know i'm a little late but I quilt with a Husqvarna Eden Rose. I normally put on the FM foot (it just pushes in, there are no buttons or screw you need to worry about), manually drop the feed dogs, then go into the settings (little tool looking button) and select free motion. It will then tell you to set your thread length at 0

  • Pressing Seams

Hello All, I'm working on my first cheveron quilt using half square triangles to piece. (I saw Jenny Doan's tutorial on youtube and thought i'de give this method a try). Well...the blocks turned out very well, however, i've noticed, pressing the seams the way i normally do (to the dark side--if you like Star Wars this is a great reminder

  • Photo Album Quilt for Nanny

My nanny is my inspriation and the only reason I sew. She got me started early with and embroidery, and taught me to sew at a very young age. The most precious memories I have are us sewing together...her working on large projects and me doing something small by hand. When I was 21, she gave me my very first sewing machine, and unleashed the monster

  • Basting Help

Hello Ladies, As you may know, i'm VERY new to quilting, and with my last few projects, have tried machine quilting however i'm having a difficult time finding a basting method that works for larger quilts. For wall hangings and small projects I use the basting spray (which I think is great), but it doesnt work as well for lap size quilts or

  • Re: Why dont quilters have a national organization that monitors their prices and makes them standard like the other crafters?

I agree, I have researched the idea of starting a business and unfortunately people just arent willing to pay for a good quality hand-made quilt when they can go to Wal-Mart and buy one for $80. (While it's not as beautiful and reliable, it's definitely more fiscally practical). If I make enough to cover my next project then I suppose that is
