Oh boy, Our principal at the elementary school where I teach announced in January 2013 that he would be retiring in just over 3 weeks due to health reasons. I have always made baby quilts for the mother-to-be-teachers and he, our principal, always asked me when was he going to get a quilt. My answers was, "you have a baby, I'll make you a quilt"

I made this quilt in 2000 as a baby shower gift for a teacher at my school. She was decorating the baby room in a western theme, so it was the perfect pattern. This was the first of many baby quilts that I have made for expecting teachers at my school.

Hi Mimi, Yes, we must be crazy quilters. Thank you very much for answering me so quickly and for giving great suggestions. I found some fabric today that I think will do nicely. Our school colors are green, white, and black. The fabric store was out of black micron pigma pens, so I will probably head to Joann's Fabric tomorrow. Washing, drying,

Hello Mimi, You did a wonderful job! It looks terrific and exactly the type of pattern I was looking to find. Thank you for posting this question. I too am an elementary teacher who was searching for a signature pattern for a retirement quilt. Our principal just announced his retirement due to health reasons, so I have less than 3 weeks to get it completed
