  • Re: Step 1 discussion and questions

Sarah, The colors are so different inside to out. The outside colors are great and a lot more fun. If you find the inside colors, I think they would also work well.

Marilyn I like the small print. I think it balances better with the blues. Even if you did not get "blank" patches with the floral, I think it is too light. To me the small print is warmer. It is your quilt and you have to go with what makes you happy. DebV

Linda, You are correct. A MQ is one that you do not know what it will be until it is done - and if you guess - you can not tell and spoil it for all the others. Last I saw Nana said there would probably be 5-6 steps. We get the fabric needs and cutting directions - a little time to take care of that - and then once a week posts. Hope you join - or at

BOM is for Block of the Month. You can get a kit if you are doing it with a shop or guild for that month's block or you just get the directions. They are good to learn new techniques. I have signed up for - but still have to do - the free ones on Craftsy. The acronym that always get me is LQS - local quilt shop. Always have to stop and think on

[quote user="Nana"] Donna Great tutorial. I wish she had told us the size of the blocks she cut from the strips. The one nice thing about the Cozy Quilt ruler is that the line you place on the seam is the size of the square you want to end up with. I can see how using any ruler is great if you aren't going for a particular size of square

  • Re: MQ8 Winners

Very sad about voting. I just found out. I love all the winners, but wish we were informed through the step discussion that we were supposed to vote. Maybe an email announcing the new discussion was posted. If I did get an email and missed it - I do have to apologize. This was my first time doing a MQ so I did not know we were supposed to be moving

Very sad about voting. I just found out. I love all the winners, but wish we were informed through the discussion that we were supposed to vote. This was my first time doing a MQ so I did not know we were supposed to be moving on to a new place after step 6. I still have to finish my top - life got in the way. Just need to add border, but once the last

  • Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi, I am Debby. Living in Central NY. I did the last Mystery Quilt - never completely finished, but almost there - so I know how nice the folks are on these boards. I am still learning to be better at it but love paper piecing. I would like to learn how to better use my fabric. I feel I waste a lot of material when I make the blocks up. Currently I

Everyone has such beautiful tops. My border fabrics did not work - but I will get kitchen curtains out of one of them and the other to the stash. I have to go shopping now. I am so sad - not! I am leaning toward just getting more of my colors and staying solid. I don't want the yellow I used as dark as the outside border, so I probably will do a

Nana, thinking of you and DH and wishing all the best and a speedy recovery. It will be nice having your daughter to help out too. We will miss you, but don't worry about us. Besides we have Nana in training, Gini and she is great. I am using Thangles to make my HST and was so excited when I had them all sewn - until I counted as I cut apart and
