  • Project for Children's Hospital

    Last Saturday my church friendship group met at our local quilt shop to sew for our Children's Hospital. We made 161 Bead Bags of Courage and 145 pillow cases! The Bead Bags are used to hold the beads children receive when a procedure. Some children have over 200 beads. Everyone loves to participate in this annual event! All the fabric used for

    Congratulations on becoming a Quilter! I totally agree Old Sheets are not good for backing. Your local quilt shop might have a section that has bolts of fabric at a sale price, but use quilter quality fabric for your quilts, may cost more but in the long run the fabric will be easier to use and wear well.

    So glad you are taking a class on free motion quilting!! I do not have a long arm and all my quilting is done on a domestic machine (Baby Lock). I usually don't use stencils. Most of the time stencils frustrate me. If I mark the quilt I use the disappearing purple pen or the blue washable pens (can't remember the brand names). Most of my quilting

    Susie, Thanks for the compliment, a wise friend of mine told me not to look at the individual block combination but the whole quilt, same fabrics shouldn't touch is the only rule. The quilt is finished just need to photograph and post. Adele

    Free Motion Quilting on a scrappy quilt, almost ready for the binding. Love scrappy quilts with 2" squares. No worries, there are still MORE scrapes in my stash!
