  • Re: Quilting design

You're welcome Betty. I wanted to have a year as well, to finish my ufo's. Two years further along, I also managed to finish quite a few, but I started more. Oh well, I just have a few large ones I really want to finish first. so I try to keep the new ones to a minimum of two. Or three. Per year, not per Ufo. Good luck on finishing your UFO's

Or Betty, I sometimes use the pattern in the backing fabric as a guideline for my freemotion quilting. But I find it very hard to follow the lines. That is why I usually work without templates. Maybe it works better for you?

Betty, I usely quilt without a template, I come up with a design, or I've seen something I like and I practise on paper first. Then I quilt the design just freely all over the quilt. That way, my patterns aren't always the same size, but I think it makes the quilt more interesting. You can go search for the error, for instance, a star with six

  • Monte Mare.

This is a quilt I worked on the last year, after a workshop given by someone at my quiltbee. The idea is from Karen Eckmeier, Happy Village. The design and execution on this quilt is my own. it is very fun to do, I used vliesofix (doublesided sticky interfacing) to stick the blocks in place and organza to cover the quilttop. Then I quilted and decorated

  • Marriage between East and West.

This is a quilt I made for my friends wedding. I also entered this quilt for the Open European Quilting Championships. The theme was Berlin, so I named it marriage between East and West. (East and West Berlin). The rings are interwoven and hang loose, a bit diagonal. So it's a 3d quilt. The rings move when draft passes, as to show the balance in

  • Off the Wall, The Universe, detail

This is a so called Off the wall Quilt. In this picture, the actual thickness of the quilt is well visible. I got the idea and the technique from the book Intuitive Color and Design, by Jean Wells. My sons chose the name, because of the different shades of blue and the UFO and alien fabric in the piece.

This is a so called Off the wall Quilt. In this picture it looks flat like a normal quilt, but it is over an inch thick. This is visible in the next picture. • Coronation quilt.

This is a small quilt I made in honour of the coronation of our King-to-be, next week. I used fusible webbing for applique, machineappliqued/quilted with a blanket stitch around the applique and quilted in the ditch in the borders.
