This is the underside of what I'm currently working on. Working on this Snail Trail block, I keep enjoying looking at the patterns of the seams underneath. I'm currently hand quilting this, the blocks finish at just under 6". This is all made from plain chintz.

My first completed 'proper' quilt is how it felt to finish this. I learnt how to bind using a walking foot, how to make up a back for the quilt from all the leftover pieces, and how to hide this from my partner, Tony, for the 7 months it took me to hand quilt it.

Thanks everyone, it was very cheap - £1.50, and I can use it to tack with now gini has okayed that, also I feel funny about taking it back or even going back to this shop, it's not a specific quilting shop but I've been a regular customer for couple of years now and I just feel a bit miffed that they let me buy this obviously knowing it

Yesterday I bought a 1,000 mtr spool of thread that was cheap but selling at my local fabric shop, which was a fraction of the normal cost of poly thread that I normally get. A total waste of money as it snaps easily - I'm a bit cross because the owner of the shop said I should try it. Anyway, my question is can you use this cheap thread for tacking

Pat, Thank you so much for spending your time doing this when I know you have so much on and you're tired. I hope you've got some sleep and Charlie is feeling easier. I love this idea, it's very simple and I love that it repeats everywhere, I wanted something simple that would repeat everywhere but wouldn't have thought of this, I will
