  • Re: Autograph quilt - I need advice

Thank you for your replies everyone. I may ask people to sign in pencil and send to me and then I will over write with ink. Is there a certin kind of pen I should use? Can anyone tell me how to "heat treat" so things don't disappear when washing? Thanks, Ellie

  • Re: Autograph quilt - I need advice

Hi Susan, Thank you for your reply! I probably didn't explain the situation very well. I plan to send squares only to the 75 or so people. They will write a couple of words and sign their name and then send the square back to me. Once all the squares are returned to me I will put the quilt together. So I'm trying to figure out how to do this

  • Rug hooking

I wonder if anyone here does any rug hooking. I want to learn more about it and am looking for a web site similar to this one (that is full of active, helpful rug hooking buddies). I have had zero luck in finding such a site. Do any of you know of one? Ellie

  • Autograph quilt - I need advice

Hi, I want to make an autograph quilt for a friend of mine and the people that will be signing this live in various places all over the country. There is no way we will all be together so I need to do everything via mail. My main concern is the ink. First of all is there a specific kind of ink that should be used and if so what is the best? And secondly

  • Re: Looking for discontinued fabric

If you haven't had any luck yet you can try www.missingfabrics.com . You send a picture of the fabric you need (if you have one) and a brief description. She updates the site once or twice a week. If anyone has the fabric they will contact you. I've posted there twice looking for discontinued fabric that I didn't think I would ever find

  • Glitter Village by Atkinson Designs

By any chance has anyone here ever made these houses? (I'm copying and pasting from "Over the Rainbow" website, I hope it comes through okay.) I think these are cute and would love to make personalized ones for Chirstmas gifts next year but have no idea if they are easy, difficult, fun, not so fun, sturdy like the picture shows or something

  • Re: Double batting?

Thank you all for your responses which have been helpful. What I want is a poofier quilt. I'm still new to quilting and am now making my 9th quilt. For all of them I have used a 80/20 cotton polyester blend, 3/16". They seem so flat to me, so I'm looking for a little poof. I have a regular sewing machine and use a walking foot when quilting

  • Double batting?

Hi, I have a quickie question for you on batting. It is okay to use two layers of 3/16" thick batting in a quilt in order to make a thicker quilt? or is only one layer allowed? Ellie

  • Re: AccuQuilt, QuiltCut2 or any other alternatives?

Thank you for the info!! I guess rather than it being a one or the other choice it is more that they work together, each doing something a little different?? Does that sound right? With the accuquilt - does this do long strips, for instance will it cut a yard into 3" strips? And I would have to purchase a separate die for that, right? And another
