  • Re: Mystery Quilt Step #3- Making 4 Patch Units

Jen, Thank you for taking on the latest mystery and for figuring all the math requirements for the various sized quilts. That's a lot of work, and way more than previous mysteries had! With those, you made some blocks of each step and waited til the reveal to figure out how many more of each step you needed to do the size you wanted to make. For

  • Re: Quilting for Therapy

Donna, I don't know how after 13 yrs. your ex feels he has any say-so whatsoever in your life and what you are able to do with your good days. What is he trying to do, aside from making you miserable? Get SSA to reverse its decision, denying you money so you have to go back to work? It must be nice to have nothing but time to dream up frivolous

  • Re: which is your favorite quilt magazine and why?

My favorite magazine is "Quiltmaker". I enjoy their patterns and have made several. Next would be "McCall's Quilting". Their patterns are great inspiration. I've made one quilt from the magazine and adapted several others to projects I've made. I can't say about Fons & Porter's magazine; I've never seen

Gini, if yours was third, what did first and second look like? I think you should have won first! Thea, love the Labryinth pattern, yours are great. Jen, your Labryinth is good looking, and your helper is too!

  • Re: New to quilting and need some advice.

Jen, love that look! I hadn't even considered the light green, but it looks wonderful. Linda, keep in mind that all of these are only suggestions. In the end, it is the look that speaks to you that counts. Welcome back to quilting. May your stay this time be a long, enjoyable journey,

Hi Linda. Just my opinion, but try something in the dark green that is the background for the shamrocks, or the blue that is in the blocks. Depending on how narrow, black could work, but might make the quilt read as too dark.

  • Re: Triangles don't match up, need help

Hi meowcatninja. If your pics show the layout of the three triangles, it looks like you don't have the triangles in the proper orientation. Double check your position for the three triangles. That is, the cream triangle goes with the long side down and the short side of the purple triangle attaches to the left short side of the cream triangle. Then

Marsha-SM, wanted to tell you I think all of your quilts are beautiful! You've put a lot of care and love into each of these quilts. Just wish I could get the stamina to work on my UFOs. They are sitting in their respective containers whispering loudly, "finish me!". The chatter is getting to me but I don't have what it takes to silence

Beth, have you tried a different layout? I'm thinking one of the reasons you might not like it is that the layout is unbalanced. Try a 5 block wide by however many rows and see if you like it better. I agree with whoever suggested black sashing. It will make the blocks seem brighter. Another thing you might try is making the "Hidden Wells"

[quote user="Marsha-SM"] I have 60 or more different florals or butterflies on hand to make many more. I just heard yesterday that I may need another for another grand niece. I thought she was graduating this year, but her aunts said next year. Her family has scheduled a graduation party for her for the 22nd, but she doesn't have enough
