  • Re: quilt patterns

You can tie the quilt for a fast, easy finish. If you want to make it sturdier, you can quilt "in the ditch", along each seam line, or you can quilt a pattern into each 9-patch block. It's really up to you and the look you want for your quilt. Hope this helps.

Sorry for the double post. My cat jumped on the keyboard and since the cursor was on post it did, again.

If you go to Google and type in something like "star patterns free" you'll get a lot of links. Scroll through them and look at any that look like what you are looking for. Good luck with your search.

  • Re: Paper Piecing Group General Discussion

Kris, today I downloaded the May block. When I looked closely at the block info, the blocks are issued a month behind. The reason I was concerned is because the blocks were supposed to be available on the second. As of yesterday mid-day the new block wasn't there. I haven't made any of the blocks yet, but I really want to start on them soon

  • Re: Using Sheets for Backing

When I started quilting, over 25 years ago, I was told, "Don't use sheets, they won't quilt right" for whatever reason. So I bought yardage and pieced the backings, which caused me severl broken needles and a lot of skipped stitches in crossing seams. Wide backings were not available back then. When wide backings became available,

Hi All, Somewhere , in some discussion thread, I came across information about Ula Lenz's paper-pieced blocks for 2016 on Etsy. I have the first posts from her site, but when I wanted to purchase May and June's blocks, they weren't there. Can anyone tell me anything about this? I really like the blocks and want to finish the year's collection

Debi, I'd say provide requirements for those who are doing a planned quilt and want the border to be in the same colors as the quilt. Those who are doing scrappy can use the requirements to give them an idea if they have enough fabrics or if they need to add more. The no-border people can ignore the whole question and carry on! Debi, Thanks for the .pdf file. I hope this isn't too much extra work. I am impressed at the speed with which you addressed my question! If you and Roxanna and Judy T and the other knowledgeable quilters on this site keep working at it, someday this will be the go-to for all quilt questions, even more so than it already is. I've watched the

Judy T, I love your color choices! I have pulled something similar for another quilt; now, IF I can find them, I'll see how they'll work here. Only hope I have enough to make the queen-sized quilt!
