  • Re: storage for kits/fabrics

I use coffee cans for scraps. You can't see into them, but they are great for keeping the small scraps out of the stash, where they can mislead you into thinking you have more of that fabric than you do. I plan to sort the small scraps into different sizes, putting all one size into it's own coffee can and labeling the outside, but that's

  • Re: Squaring Up

As long as you make sure that your ruler is square to the corners, this will work just fine. The problems come when the ruler isn't square to the corners; then you wind up with wonky blocks that don't fit together right.

  • Re: Tips

That's so true! Patience is the one thing I have to work at, and its the most important thing in quilting and all other aspects of life. Letting go is another hard-to-come-by trick, but so essential.

  • Re: Keeping your Quilt Block in the Order you want them.

I've tried most of the ideas, from post-its to labels. Post-its don't always stick and labels sometimes stick too well. I now use plastic pin-on tags. Darlene, what colors are you looking for? I have a bunch of fabrics from my grandmother that should be of the right period (I'm 66). Let me know what you need and I'll look and see what I have and send you pics of what I have. PM me with your e-mail, please.

Mine is 21 yrs old. Its hand pieced and appliqued, a class quilt I took right after my divorce. Top is done, backing is misplaced (read stuck away somewhere so I wouldn't lose it), working up energy to hunt for same, then energy to hand quilt it. Oldest UFO I have was started by my grandmother in the 30s. Needs to be repaired then quilted. Again

  • Re: Let's make a (( HUG )). Quilt for THEA!!!!!

Candis, count me in, too. Do you have an update on Thea? I've been on the site for just over a year and really enjoyed the chatter. Thea's blocks and quilts are amazing and I love looking at the galleries, all the wonderful quilts. Send my prayers and best wishes to Thea and the other members who are having personal issues.

  • Re: How to find fabric that has a repeat pattern of 17"?

If you look at the selvage, the little dots that show the colors used are exactly one repeat of the pattern apart. Makes measuring very simple.

  • Finally, Fabrics for MQ7

These are the fabrics for my MQ7. I plan on 6x8, or 3 blocks from each color. Way, way outside my preferred prints!
  • Re: Sad news from Barbara

Barbara, I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing your mother and in such a tragic way! My thoughts and prayers are with you as you make the drive home. Take it slow and steady on your trip. I'm praying for good weather along the way, and a safe, uneventful trip. Know that all of us love you and are praying for you.
