  • Re: Pattern "Tropical Radiance"

Thanks Marcia. I got the second part in digital form, now all I have to do is get me fabrics together and make it . That's the best part, but also the hardest!

Update: Having searched the QNM site with no results, I Googled the pattern name, "Tropical Radiance", got a lot of hits that had nothing to do with my pattern. One of the posts was a link to the shop connected to QNM, which I'd looked at first. The link gave me the full-size patterns for the paper-piecing as well as the quilting design

Hi AliceW-4, I bought a Singer Futura 200 about 10 yrs ago. It works well, when it wants to. I don't know if the new Singers are better or not, but I know this Futie had a steep learning curve. That being said, I've learned to work inside its quirks, and she does beautiful work. She sews well, once you get past the lack of a numbering system

  • Pattern "Tropical Radiance"

Hi All, I've hunted everywhere I can think of, but can't find the pattern "Tropical Radiance". It was a 2-part article in Quilters Newsletter Magazine, October/November 2011 and December/January 2012. It was the cover page both months. I need the December/January 2012 magazine. I've tried to find it at QNM's site, but that

You can tie the quilt for a fast, easy finish. If you want to make it sturdier, you can quilt "in the ditch", along each seam line, or you can quilt a pattern into each 9-patch block. It's really up to you and the look you want for your quilt. Hope this helps.

Sorry for the double post. My cat jumped on the keyboard and since the cursor was on post it did, again.

If you go to Google and type in something like "star patterns free" you'll get a lot of links. Scroll through them and look at any that look like what you are looking for. Good luck with your search.

  • Re: Paper Piecing Group General Discussion

Kris, today I downloaded the May block. When I looked closely at the block info, the blocks are issued a month behind. The reason I was concerned is because the blocks were supposed to be available on the second. As of yesterday mid-day the new block wasn't there. I haven't made any of the blocks yet, but I really want to start on them soon

  • Re: Using Sheets for Backing

When I started quilting, over 25 years ago, I was told, "Don't use sheets, they won't quilt right" for whatever reason. So I bought yardage and pieced the backings, which caused me severl broken needles and a lot of skipped stitches in crossing seams. Wide backings were not available back then. When wide backings became available,
