    Thanks Judy, Hand cranks are very common here so i had the choice of 3, I liked this one because it was lighter and a bit more portable than the singer, but my neice fell for the singer so she had that as part of her birthday present, not sure she will ever use it but not fussed because that means i just end up with 2.     I had a husqvarna rose which was great and then it started playing up, and since there was no one reliable to service it, decided to donate it to a goodwill shop that sends sewing machines out to Africa so that women can earn a living and I brought a hand crank from the same good will place already serviced, should mean that i can service it myself

    Thanks Kris I didnt know about the Barbara Brackman one I will check that out. Yes i do still play with Patchwork of the crosses although its not a favourite I think because i have to buy shapes for that one and they are stiffer than the paper i normally use.
