  • HELP!!! Stains on wedding quilt MIL gave us! How do I get them out??

Hello everyone! Before I explain the problem here, let it be known that I was not a quilter or crafter of any kind when I was married in 1995. That being said... My MIL made us a quilt for our wedding Nov 1995. It's done in greens & white. When we rec'd it, we had 2 black, shedding cats who slept with us every night & laid on the bed

  • Re: Fund raising for quilt guilds

My little guild (15) does an annual garage sale. Everyone donates (& prices) their things, brings them to the host's house, & then help man the sale for a day or two. Pick the best "garage sale" neighborhood & have it there. All money goes to the guild. We've also invited well known speakers in for a reduced rate &

  • Re: Need suggestions

Hi there! A pillowcase is fine, but how about one of those cool little bags kids carry with the rope material on each side and it cinches at the top? It's basically a rectangle with a "cinch" cord running through the top, and thicker type ropes that run down the sides. They're on a lot of sport sites such as Nike or Sports Authority

Like what I see of your reply, but is part of it missing? ;) wish more experienced quilters had your outlook on this type of thing. Making a quilt is a lot of work & it's very personal. If the rules didn't specify their "quilting style", then they have no reason to exclude it. Hang in there!!!!

  • Re: Newbie question

I've been reading the replies to the post & I have to say that I'm a newbie too, belong to a guild of very experienced, long-time quilters, & I feel very intimated by the other members. So when I read what you said, I was thinking, "How dare anyone criticize what you did!" It took a lot of guts as a new quilter to even participate

  • Re: 60 degree triangle table runner??? HELP!!

Carol, This is EXACTLY it! Thank you! Someone I know also said that there are placemats made the same way on the Jinny Byer studio site and the measurements could just be adjusted. See, what we did with ours was make the table runner and then use the leftover triangles to make a roundish table mat kind of thing that matches the table runner. Would be

  • 60 degree triangle table runner??? HELP!!

Hello all! I haven't been on here for a while, but I figure this is probably the best place to find an answer to this question (since you're all so knowledgeable on these types of things). I recently made a table runner and matching table "mat" using horizontally striped material and a 9" 60 degree triangle ruler. I made it at

  • Re: Weight loss challenge! 2013 New Years Resolution.

Debbie, Good luck today! I'll be praying for you! I've had 2 back surgeries for ruptured discs in my lumbar area and then lost the feeling for my sciatic nerve on the left side (first surgery, the dr. "moved" it too much to get to my back or something). It always felt like it was asleep until the surgery. After that, there's been

Thanks for the encouragement, Kris (& everyone else!). It really means a lot to know that a group of great women are pulling for me. I've been trying to drink more water this week, cut back on junk food, and only had low fat ice cream once. May not sound like a lot, but small steps!! Congrats to all of you who are losing the weight already!
