    If we are to cut 160 squares 4.5 x 4.5 inches, we need about 2.25 yards of background. I think people will come up short when they start cutting. WOF: You can get nine 4.5" squares cutting across width of fabric. 4.5 x 9 = 40.5 inches. Then you will need 18 strips which equates to 2.25 yards. LOF: You can get sixteen 4.5" squares cutting down

    Sandy, one bit that's missing from the pattern and pictorial results is the quilting done on the finished top. Could you include some suggestions on what quilting design would look best with the block layout? I still have 2 unfinished flimsies of MQ #5 and am anxious to try my hand at free-motion quilting.

    This is my first mystery quilt and I admit to being OBSESSED with figuring out what the resulting block will look like. Jan says she knows (hmmm, what would it take to bribe her to tell ME). Sandy H. gave us big clue when she said the block will end up as 12 inches. So now I will play with my packets again to see if I can figure it out. Regardless,
