  • Paper piecing

I am looking at the projects that some have done in paper piecing and I would like to know if these are actually done in paper or fabric? I looked at the class on this but could not understand why you would be cutting paper and putting it together to look like a quilt block. Can someone please set me straight on this class? As you can see I have a lot

  • spray starch/iron

Haven't used spray starch in years. Not much has changed-my iron in yucky! Can someone please tell me how I get the mess off the iron and does it end up clogging the spray holes on my iron. It is much too expensive an iron to have it die because of starch buildup. Thanks for the help. pattie

  • What is the secret to making this work?

I have been looking at the beautiful quilts and I have to know what the secret is to making these line up. I have been feeling very intimidated and I decided to try an easy fairly large pieced quilt. I spent 2 hours trying to figure out how all of you straighten these fat qts and yardage. Do you pull a thread? I have been sewing for years and I guess

  • online shopping

Is there a list of recommended online fabric stores that anyone could tell me about? I have the fabric sickness that there is no cure for, but more fabric. There are so many on the search sites that I thought some of you quilters might have favorites that you might share with this rank beginner. pattie

  • Questions again please

Do you worry about the grain of fabric when quilting and if so does it get messed up with piecing many shapes? Do you also make sure the fabric is straight as if you were going to make a garment? Does anyone mix a cotton front quilt and put a flannel backing on it or is this a no-no? Is there a place that I can get some measurements for different projects

  • Beginner Questions

I have held off as long as I can. More questions. First of all if you had to choose the most important rulers to have what would they be? Where would I look for posts or information on machines recommended including longarm and comparisons and opinions of each? I wonder if someone could let me know if there is a book that would show the quilt that looks

Now that is a name That I have not seen in Batting. I guess it seems to be trial and error. If you find you don't like the way one batting acts there are others to chose from. This is a good thing. I see that there is wool too. I remember sending my fleeces out to be processed and they would ask if I wanted batting made from them. I am assuming

Thanks for the welcome. When you say you can pre wash batting do you put it in a laundry bag or just put it in the washer and let go? I am so glad I found this club. I can tell I will learn a lot and possibly have to post more questions for posts I have read-and that is on top of all the questions I have now. So much to learn I am really feeling threatened
