We all know we should clean the sewing machine and change the needle before each new project, right? I add one more small chore: I run a Q-tip down each side of my iron, in the gap between the sole plate and the body of the iron. It's amazing how much oily lint is stuck in there! If I forget this task, inevitably some of that lint will get smeared
