  • Can't get my blocks to come out to the right dims. Newby here, need help!

I am making a scrap quilt for my niece out of scraps of fabric from her grandmother's (my MIL) clothes. I have a block that is 10" long and 4" wide. I want to put a border on it to make it a 12" block. For the life of me, I cannot get the border right to make it a 12" block. Can someone help?

I love this idea, Judi. I won't do a lot of the swaps because I'm just a beginner and would be embarrassed for an experienced quilter to have to see and/or use my blocks! My other group is doing casserole carriers. I don't have a pattern for any so I won't be doing it, but would just love for someone to make me one! Wouldn't that be awesome!!! How about something for the Christmas holidays? Place mats? Table toppers? Christmas pot holders would be fun, too.

I've been spending a lot of time on a swap site on Facebook called Quilt and Swap. I love the way they do their swaps. Everyone signs up and you usually have 4-5 days to sign up. Then they take the entire group of names and divide into groups of 5. I am in a pot holder swap and I only have to make 4 pot holders. Much cheaper and much more do-able

How about this..........everyone send two 3 inch strips of tone on tone in primary colors only. Figure if you are doing children's quilts you probably have plenty of print fabrics already involved.
