I like it fine. It's a lot easier to use than my old machine. I like the stitch quality a lot...but it had tension issues when I first got it. I took it in to get fixed within the first month (got it back within 3 days or so) and haven't had issues since.

I made this quilt for my son, Ian. It's approximately 49"x58". Made using 100% cotton fabrics, batting, and thread. Here's the link for the quilt top pattern: http://quilting.about.com/od/blockofthemonth/ss/grandma_favorit.htm

  • Bag for sewing machine extras

I bought a new sewing machine and wanted to try it out, so I took some extra fabric and batting I had lying around and made a quilted holder for all the extra parts for my machine. I also made a pocket for the foot pedal and power cord and another to hold the stitch reference guide. I'm not going to post pictures of those as they're all the

  • Re: Need help with binding

I bought a book a while back called The Quilter's Ultimate Visual Guide edited by Ellen Pahl. It has been very helpful with binding and most any other problems you might run into while quilting. Well...I went shopping around and tried Husqvarna Vikings, Pfaffs, Berninas, baby locks, Brothers, etc. and decided to go with the baby lock Melody. Thanks everyone for your opinions. :)

All of the brands I mentioned have a local repair shop close by (the Babylock/Janome seller/repair is 5 minutes away, the others about 15-20 minutes away)...so that's not the issue. I just have no clue which brand (or model within brands) is really "best" for me. I want something that I can pretty well count on having the rest of my life

  • another sewing machine question...

I've been considering getting a new sewing machine (my current one is a Morse 4400 zigzag machine). I've looked at all the past discussions on here about sewing machines and still have some questions. I do both quilting and regular sewing on my current machine (regular sewing includes making aprons, dresses, Halloween costumes, pillow covers
