I can't believe I've been able to get back on the site!! Have been able to read posts, but no replies, not able to sign or log in. I called several times, left messages and finally got a response that my password would be reset. I did sign in with Chrome as one emails response said that Chrome would work, and one response said only Internet

  • Re: That elusive 1/4"

Ldyj, my husband repairs and refurbishes Featherweights. I just asked him and he said it sounds like the feed dogs are out of alignment. They may be just a slight bit cocked sideways and that is pulling the bottom material. He said if that is the problem, it is best to have someone close to you look at it for repair. Or if you want to call him, he can

Kim, I also have a long arm, for about 3 years now. Also, not for business, but thinking this year, I may open it up for others to "rent". So far, I am learning the craft, I do all free-motion so far. Wanting to learn Pantographs next. Not sure on your question? Are you asking how do we decide what pattern to quilt on the top? I draw my pattern

  • Re: Autograph quilt - I need advice

I did a birthday quilt for my mother's 80th birthday. I ask many of her friends and family to send me birthday wishes on paper or by email. Then i just printed on fabric and made these into the blocks for the quilt. Worked perfect. No hassles, just reminders to everyone to send to me.

I have a set of king sized, new, unopened in package. Bought them then decided to only do my machine to a queen, so bought the queen sized ones. I can sell for 1/2 price at $50? Just to get them out of the closet.

I started learning my long arm by renting at a shop here in town. The ones around here all charge $25-$35. They didn't charge to take lessons, but now everyone is doing that. I actually was thinking to start renting my long arm, maybe do some lessons to help people plan their quilts and give them ideas on the quilting patterns, etc. That way i would

Chris, How did you get the word out that you were renting your machine? I have cards for our sewing machine refurbishing, should I just add new cards that reflect this info? or do you think just word of mouth is the best for the start?

Chris, so you charge just for someone else to rent your machine, but instead of by the hour, you charge by the inch? That's an interesting way to do it. I have heard that here in town, if I was to quilt for someone, (quilt by stippling, or free motion,) the going rate is 0.01-0.02 per inch. If that is the case then, it would be better to rent the

  • Re: Buy patterns to save for later?

I put all the patterns I pull off the internet or order, in notebooks that are labeled for the types of quilts in them. ex: Baby quilts, appliqué quilts, scrap quilts, ect. If they are download patterns, I put them in folders on the computer, then label the folders, the same as the notebooks. I enjoy looking thru the notebooks, when I'm planning
