• Re: Are you ready for MQ7

I just picked up my quilt from Meandering Mary's (long-arm quilting), two nights ago, and am so thrilled with how it looks...I like the looks of my quilt MUCH more now that it's been quilted. I posted a photo in the Media gallery, where you can enlarge it and really see the quilt stitches in it, but here's the same photo too, for those who

  • Close up view of my Nana's Surprise...

Just picked up from the long-arm quilt shop and she did a beautiful job on the quilting. Now all I have to do is bind it in red, and it'll be finished!

If you did piece it, would you be willing to share instructions on how to create a border like that? I'd love to be able and make a border like that for a future quilt, if you don't mind sharing!
Thanks Gina and all for your kind comments. The border is pieced, it's
Wow, I'm amazed at all the beautiful quilts, all the different colors are so fun to see. I finished mine, called it Bumblebee Squadron. I wanted to name it Pittsburgh Streets but my DH strongly objected. He hasn't gotten over the Seattle Seahawks loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl.
lcqultr46

All the quilts posted so far are just gorgeous! This Mystery Quilt pattern sure did turn out to be a really neat looking pattern in the end. I just wish I was all caught up with mine. But I outgrew my little sewing room and had to move into a larger room of the house, and it's been almost 4 weeks and I still haven't been able to get everything

I am SOOOOO far behind...I am still on step 2 of this whole thing. Not sure when I'll have time to catch up or even get it done...hopefully before next winter! Now that I know how the quilt is supposed to look when it's finished, I am anxious to see my fabric choices in a completed quilt!

All my strip sets in the first part of step 2 ended up being 2-1/4 inches when done. If they have to be exactly 2" then I will have to cut off a little bit from each side of them, as I don't have the patience to remake these. Or is it ok that they are at 2-1/4 inches wide because

Ok, I just figured I'd proceed with what I've got, and when I sewed my 1" sections together to make a 9-patch block, they ended up being 2-1/4 inches too, so it all works out ok I guess. Here's a photo of my first one completed...
Wow some of you gals are going great guns. I downloaded the instructions this morning but have been working on quilts for my grandniece and grandnephew (they are twins). I have the top and what I thought would be the back done for the nephew but DH says that I should make it into a top on it's own. I am going to
Marilyn When you sew the first 2 strips together you are using a 1/4" off of each strip which totals 1/2". You then sew the 3rd strip again taking a 1/4" off of each strip which again will total 1/2". You started out with 3 inches worth of strips. When you subtract your 1" total of seams used you
