The embroidered blocks were worked by my mother. I just pieced and quilted.

Full size Tree of Life scrap quilt. Mostly hand pieced over the summer. Machine quilted.

I did bubble, and free hand flowers. I didn't like my free hand flowers, so I made a circle around them and then quilted around them to soften their shape.

My mom did the embroidery, I pieced and quilted it. 1/22/2012

This was the first quilt where I used chain piecing. I didn't know about working in strip sets yet, so those all are separate squares. I didn't know how many to cut so by the time I made all my pieces into 9 patch blocks, I accidentally had enough blocks for 2 baby quilts.

This was the first quilt I made with only partial directions. I now know I was to use paper piecing, but didn't understand and I cut out each of the triangles and squares by hand and pieced them all. Then I fusible appliqued a cat on one corner and a dog in the opposite corner. But I also know now that there are different stiffness for applique

I used what my mom had embroidered and turned it into a quilt. It was my first attempt to free motion quilt. I needed a lot of work on the tension and speed.

I made a couple of these one year for Christmas. Charlie loves it too.

I did this with strips on foundation and then shaped them in a heart. I hand quilted a lot of it, then switched to machine quilting.

Put a little somewhere else too, maybe a little in the quilting in the border. Or maybe the bottom line of the boat. But just make it look intentional.
