  • Re: It's Time for MQ V!

Lovely quilt. That navy/purple color that is the background in the blocks would make a nice color for the binding, or lime green with the purple as the outermost color.

Oh, I hope you didn't rip out and do over to get "hearts". They look like overlapped rectangles with an X on the top of the pile. March to your own drummer! They are gorgeous. If you want to make the pattern again, mark where you want "hearts" to fall and proceed, but these are lovely as they turned out. Good job!

  • Re: New Group starting soon.

I have about 4 blocks done for an Underground Railroad quilt. I was trying to get it done along with Bird Song and Butterfly Bop. Alas, they are hanging on my design wall (putting them down flat anywhere in my sewing studio is the kiss of death).

  • Re: Removing quilting stitches

Oh, darlin'! I usually have more ripped out thread on the floor than I do in the quilt by the time I get through quilting a project. If your upper thread is loopy on the back, adjust your tension. As I have more and more arthritis in my fingers, I've found a #12 steel crochet hook is the best weapon for attack. It is very small (don't get

  • Bird Song

"Bird Song", a Robert Kaufman fabric line called "Nature's Poetry", and their pattern. This is my second quilt that I made for the library fund raiser. It is twin size. When I went looking for a project to make, I decided this one was adult, neither masculine or feminine, and had warm, comfortable colors--all qualities I anticipated

  • Butterfly Bop (Back to School Project)

Butterfly Bop (Back to School Project) This is my version of the "Back to School Project" from Quiltmaker. They called theirs "Dozens of Daisies". As you can see, my daisies acquired some hot pink butterflies among the lime green and hot pink daisies. I have been collecting black and white fabrics for some years with no specific

  • Re: One more question....

Don't feel bad. I have a UFO with reindeer that have their feet cut off. I'm not going to call it "the kittens who lost their mittens" but the "reindeer who lost their shoes". (No smileys in this place????)

  • Re: OK, went and shopped for fabric today

Pack up that red, white and blue fabric and find a group that makes Quilts of Valor for our veterans. I spent last weekend with a group of ladies making QOV and we had so much fun. I think we made 18 quilt tops, and there are a couple more in process. Look for www.QOV.org . See if it is for you.

  • Re: Questions (and hints) about fabric selection

The color that grabs my attn is that pale blue in the middle strip/foreground, or the blue in the paisley in the second left foreground strip.

  • Re: Need help Background selection

Yummy stuff there. Top row, #11 or center one-- very pale/pastel color of the back ground should set things off nicely (the lavender pink color). Or very light true blue or aqua.
