    I mainly stick with the neutral colors, but if I'm working on a brightly colored quilt top, I do use matching thread. I'm always afraid some day a thread will pop through somewhere and when it does, it will at least match. Today I worked on and completed my St. Remy de Provence.     My husband bought me one for Christmas last year. It was intimidating at first and took me a couple months to learn to use it properly. Lots to learn about it, but honestly, I have loved it and experienced very little waste. The nice part is that everything is cut to "exact" dimensions. I am hearing that the newer version is even better -

    It's a personal choice, and there are pro's and con's on both sides. I never did until I saw a quilt my sister made - and did not prewash. After some use she washed it in cool water and mild soap, and some of the colors ran. It actually ruined the look of the quilt. So now, I do prewash some of my bolder fabrics, and ALL my batiks.
