What a beautiful print that fabric is! I also have some fabric by Terri Clothier Thompson, mine is called "Louisa". I'm planning on using a 3 yd piece for the medium blue that's called for. I also have the coordinating jelly roll, but not sure I'm going to use it. I've already pulled some reds to go with this blue, but who

Ooh Marsha, sounds like you're chomping at the bit to get started. LOL I too, looked at the CW Jubilee collection, but decided to pull as much as I can from my stash although I know I'm going to need some reds and border fabrics. ;-) My book came yesterday and I've just been drooling over it!!
I received my Hancocks catalog yesterday and I found a hand dyed muslin in a parchment color that I might order for my background for $5.98 a yard. All the lights I have are all too dark to go with my other fabrics. I am using Barbara Brackman's Civil War Jubilee primarily, supplementing with some other CW
Karla Connecting Threads quilter's candy line would make beautiful background fabrics. I love their mottled fabrics. They usually carry some creams and tans in their line at very reasonable prices.
Thanks for the tip, Nana. I did look there tonight and see they are currently out of their cream Mirage fabric

Thank you Judy! A picture is worth a thousand words, as they say. Looks like you've got some great fabrics there for your block backgrounds. I'll have to poke around and see what's in my stash, but I'm guessing I'll need to buy some, too. ;-) Karla in CO
For this project, I'm going scrappy for the background. I have lots of background tone on tone in my CW or similar stash so I should be fine.
Thanks for sharing your plans, Judy. I was actually thinking of doing a tone on tone, but all my CW background fabs are shirtings so they have two colors

I would love some recommendations of where I can buy my 7 yds of background fabric for a decent price - think budget but quilt quality fabric. Thanks so much, Karla in CO

A couple of questions for anyone in the know, are all of the blocks paper pieced or can they be done in the traditional manner? Does Jennifer give ample instructions for us first time paper piecers?
Jennifer does give instructions but as suggested the YouTube videos by Carol

Thanks so much for the warm welcome, Sue. Guess I better go check out Carol's videos and whatever else I can find. After watching a few quilter's pp methods in the past, I can see that it's important to adopt the method that works best for me. I will definitely be asking questions. :-) Karla in CO
