  • Lone Star Over the Rainbow

I entered this quilt in the San Antonio, Texas Quilt Show in August in the Show Theme Category. I won a Blue Ribbon. I used Debbie Maddys' Lone Star pattern and designed the border myself. The quilt has 350 Half Square Triangles (HSTs) and 52 Floating Stars. The stars were made the traditional rotary cutting way - there were 208 star points in the

  • Henrietta Whiskers in Batiks

I love Bunny Hill Designs and the Bunny's. I used all batiks for Henrietta and changed the setting. This quilt will be in the San Antonio Quilt Show in August. I love the traditional needle turn applique method, no glue. I also go around each piece with embroidery thread to help the pieces stand out. It takes twice the time, but the effort is worth

  • Floating Stars Quilt

I purchased the pattern, special Creative Grids Ruler, and used Sangria Bali Pops to make this quilt. This was a very challenging quilt to make because of the problems in making the Floating Star Blocks. I realized that I had some issues to work out when I could not square the star block to 6 1/2". I always make a block with "trash" or

  • Re: Who's Going to Come Along for the Quilt-Along?

HI, I will be following along. I have selected purples to make this quilt. It will be my 2nd Mystery Quilt (I have just begun number 1 with our Guild. But I have a question, and issue with the pattern. I would like to know what Block W, the 4 Patch, and A and B square to when finished for Part 1. It really does bother me that the designer does not include
  • Baltimore Hearts

The block patterns came from Elly Sienkiewicz and I designed the setting. It has taken a 2nd and 3rd place. It is now retired. One thing I have learned about entering quilts in a Show is to NOT compete agains oneself! That can be very interesting when the Hand Applique, Hand Quilting category only has 5 quilts and 2 are yours!

  • The Doggie Gone Quilt

In January 2011 my hubby and I decided (rather I had the brainy idea) to purchase two Shih Tzu puppies. How much fun they would be and they could keep us company in our Studio as he played his guitar and I quilted (WHAT WORLD WAS I IN?) We were wintering in Arizona when I made that decision and I had entered quilts in the Tucson Show. While shopping

  • Lone Star Quilt

I made this quilt in 2 weeks using Debbie Maddy's pattern using HSTs. There are approximately 450 HSTs. I loved making it and will make one for our Quilt Show next year.
