My husband worked in the prison system for several years. It depends on your status. He said some guys were allowed knitting needles. So, it will depend. Good luck. If they allow them, it'll be the perfect time to master hand quilting.

i think their quality has gone down hill. when my subscrition ends, i will not renew. like mccall's quilting and never have problems (so far).

and if you do like Bonnie Hunter, sew 2 pieces together (as if yu are making a block) you will eventually have enough doubles to put together to make a quilt. (always keep a new 'block' under your needle) i have started doing this with my scraps and have soooo many sewn together, i just know i will be doing a scrap quilt soon!

i go to a retreat in fulton,il at a quilt store. everyone chips in on meals (there is a kitchen in the store) so we double up meals (2 or 3 per meal) which makes less work for all involved. kitchen duties are shared (washing dishes,setting table, etc). i think 15 or 16 people are the max (used to do over 20 and it was loud and crowded). makes for a

i have a janome dc3050 that my dh bought me after i had hand surgery and had just started quilting (about 6 years ago). i love it. it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it is computerized so it has lots of stitches (and what do you need besides a straight stitch for the most part?!). easy to use and goes to retreat with me several times

thanks. will mention to darling hubby. he thinks if we attach 1.5 inch styrofoam (like what is use in insulating) it will be enough. if his idea doesn't work, i will definitely go your way.
