  • Re: Lone Star advice

I have really enjoyed reading your responses and researching your suggestions! You all are so helpful. The pics you two ladies posted are fabulous! I haven't made a solid decision yet on how I'm going to create the lone star for her, but I certainly feel a little more confident than I did. Thanks so much for your input. I'll post a pic when

  • Lone Star advice

Hi All, I have a good friend who has requested a Lone Star quilt. Her sister has one that has been passed down through 3 generations, and my friend really wants one for herself and to pass on to her daughter. I'm wondering if any of you have a favorite method or pattern you'd recommend I use. I've been quilting for about 5 years, so I'm

  • Re: Zip-lock Bags

I use ziplock bags for everything! I usually buy the larger cheap ones to keep handy in my quilting room for scrap projects. I use them to organize my smaller scraps by color or by size. I sometimes put a pattern in a bag and start collecting scraps to use for that particular pattern...ex: log cabin, chiclets, nine patches, etc.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! Like I said before, this is a great group!! I will be chatting more and posting pictures soon. I've only been quilting for about 3 years, so I wouldn't say my skill level is very high, but I enjoy it so much. I am trying to like scrap quilts - trying because I am very organized and like structure, so I'm

  • Quilter in a new location

Hi All, I've been around QCA for a year or so, but never officially introduced myself, so Hey! I'd also like to say that this is the greatest online group I have ever been a part of. I recently moved to the Myrtle Beach, SC area and haven't really been able to connect to quilters in the area, so I thought I'd reach out on here. All guild

  • Re: Final Step Questions?

I don't know that this is a "final step" question, but it's keeping me from finishing. :) I'm finally getting around to trimming my blocks and getting ready to put everything together. I don't have a lot of experience in squaring up blocks, and that's my problem right now. I'm going to need to square all of my blocks

I got all caught up (on this quilt) last night, so I feel a lot better now. This is my first MQ, and the control freak that lives inside me is pitching all-out temper tantrums since "we" don't know what this is going to look like. It's really been fun to step out of my controlled comfort zone!!
