  • Stolen Quilts

Good evening quilters. Awhile back, we started a thread about dealing with stolen quilts. Some quilters have had their precious lifes' work taken from them in an instant. Here is my blog post chronically some quilters' stolen works of art. This article was printed previously in The Quilter Magazine, December/January issue. www.KimHansonQuilts

Jacy - that makes me sad! Obviously whomever wrote the lady's name on the front of your quilt has no idea of its intrinsic value. Kim

Granny - I am researching an article on the subject and what I've discovered is definitely eye-opening! It's crazy..... I didn't realize quilt theft is as rampant as it is. Once the article is published, I will put a link to it here on the Board. Kim

Judy - that was smart thinking on your part. We do have to safeguard our work whenever possible. Kim in Calgary

Gini - good morning. I have been given Mary Sorenson's name by some other quilters and I will be contacting her today about her thefts. Thanks so very much. Kim in Calgary

Joyce - it's too bad your friends could not have taken and kept their photo...but so understandable on the part of the quilt shop owner. Kim in Calgary

Granny M - incredibly interesting story. It's so hard to imagine how someone can take credit for another's creative work. No photos at the quilt shows are a way to safeguard against this problem, I guess. Thanks so much for sharing your story - it's much appreciated. I'm going to send you a private message.
