Thanks for the great news about our friends, Agnes. It will be somewhat difficult keeping the generators running, I imagine. I mean in having to get fuel for them all of the time, but at least their homes are there. I imagine big cleanups for them also. If I had any excess energy to give them to go on, I certainly would. Thanks for keeping us updated

Marianne, I think at that time my grandfather, his mother and brother were just glad to get to safety. Loosing the ability to speak German freely just didn't seem like that big of a deal. But like I said, they moved to an area of Michigan that was heavily populated with German immigrants, so I think all of the people in that area learned to make

Oh Sukochi, I can really appreciate your comment about the big bills from medical problems. With all of the things that have happened to me in the past year it is becoming unreal. Hope that your medical problems are getting under control. All I know is that this time, anything that my medicare insurance doesn't cover had better be covered by the

Oh Marianne, I agree with you that it is always good to be fluent in more than 1 language. In my family, when my Grandfather immigrated to the US from Germany, it was during the 1st world war and it was just not the thing to do, to speak German. So strictly English was spoken and I didn't get the advantage of 2 languages. Ginny

Joyce, It is not that I am without projects, I just can't do any of them because it requires that I either put the right leg down or use it at the sewing machine with my knee pedal. I didn't break my leg, but I might as well have with all of the pain and swelling that I am having. I feel at the hospital, on my knee. Since I am on coumadin, there

Oh how sad and frightening it must be right now for Patti, especially with her daughter in such a precarious place also. Please keep us updated if you can, Gini. I am praying that things will be alright for Patti and family. Ginny

Marianne, It is such a blessing that everything worked out so well for your family from your move. You said that your youngest son turned 49?. My youngest son turned 50 last December. Now I just have to ask this--- do you still have a German accent? If you do, has it mingled with a southern accent too? I live in an area in Michigan that is fairly near
