  • Re: Countdown to MQ 4 Begins

I really shouldn't think about joining the MQ! I just started a baby quilt for my to-be great-grand? Also been buying so much material!! It is so fun. Our Shop Hop begins soon. Can't wait. I better hurry with the baby quilt so I will be ready for the MQ.

I haven't tried any machine quilting. Do you mark it somehow with the design you want or just free hand it? This is beautiful Granny M!

When you start to machine quilt, do you start in the middle of quilt or at the edge? I was taught to start in middle, I guess so quilt evens out? I am making a wall hanging now. Also, can you piece batting? I am sure it's not a good thing to do but sometimes you just need a little extra and hate to cut into a huge piece. Thanks for everyones help

Is this hard to do? Do you need a special ruler? I am new to quilting and have seen several neat patterns for this but not sure if I could attempt it. Also, I was trying to watch the DVD that came with my membership. I have Windows but nothing comes up. I insert disc and the menu comes up but that is all.

I am in Nebraska. We also had lots of wind the last couple of days. 60 mph yesterday. No damage thank goodness. It's funny what you can do when you put your mind to it! I always enjoyed sewing when my kids were home. I made all the bridesmaids and flower girls dresses for my youngest daughters wedding. I kind of got burned out, tho, as I was doing

Oh, yeah. Forgot I was going to ask if anyone has ordered from Connecting Threads website. They have alot of really reasonable kits, thread and material. I am hesitant when I can't actually see and feel material.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. My problem is I want to do all the neat patterns. I love anything with stars. The table runner I made was with a charm pack so was pretty easy. The binding was the hardest. I just purchased a walking foot for my machine so hopefully I will have an easier time. I have an older singer. Would LOVE to get a newer one
