• Re: Quilt Out Of Old Sheets?
IMHO you can use old sheets if you want. Many antique quilts are made from old clothes and they held up for many years. This quilt is for a good friend and I would assume she has a reason for wanting a quilt made from these sheets. I think I would prefer sewing old sheets over t-shirts and many have made quilts
I glimpsed the sun but also some awfully ominous looking clouds which have taken over the skies. On my walk this morning I came very aware that winter is nipping at the heels. Angelle-Hope the sun is still shining for you.
I've some scraps in these fabrics you're welcome to if you'd like to have them.
Mel, thanks for the offer. I have a quite a selection of fabrics now to make about 6 more quilts at least. Just need to find panels and borders. I have been starting to cut out these blocks to make kits to sew up when needed
Am I working on a quilt? Yes, am I making progress? Very limited. I am sewing simple sashings to blocks and my measurements have been off. So my day is sew, rip, sew again, oh, rip some more. It will be a miracle if I actually make progress today.
Agnes, I have had many days like that. I have almost worn out fabric

Thea, This is my own pattern sized to fit the panel. It worked out that I could use 6 - 7 inch blocks on each side (all 4) by adding a 3'' (finished) border on each side of the panel. My panel measured about 40 1/2 inches square after adding the side borders (cut at 3 1/2 in. x 40 1/2 in). The blocks are made from 6 inch squares (cut size) with

Thanks also, Carol and Weezee. To give you an idea of the size of these quilts, the rope they are hanging from is 8 1/2 feet above the floor. This eventually will be my sewing room and this rope will be replaced with a more permanent system. Maybe I can get away with 8 feet and let the too-long quilts rest on the floor. I need to insulate the 4 inch

Marie, Barbara and Elizabeth, Thanks for your comments on my quilts. MQ 8 and my Hunter's I spy are my favorites also. I wish the quilting showed up on MQ 8 - I used various heart designs. The blocks have 8 hearts and loops toward the middle - I have seen that design on many sites but not the size I needed so I kind-of "stole" the design
