• Re: Are You Ready For MQ 6?

Well I finally finished the top. It is a bit strange for me to post a picture of only the quilt top with the quilt not yet finished. I don't usually take a picture until I have completed it entirely. I have to say that doing a Mystery Quilt was fun and I by making it scrappy I had to give up some control on the arrangement of fabrics, so all in
This is going to be a great quilt when I finish! thanks! Question: Were you planning to give us any instructions for making this quilt larger? Thanks again!
You can make a larger border as suggested or you can add an additional border to make it larger.

  • Re: Welcome to our new members. Please tell us something about yourself.
Welcome to the group Brenda.
Thanks Nana, I'm excited to be here! I'm a work-from-home grandma of 7 doing taxes and accounting. Quilting lets me "remove" myself from my work. I was born and "mostly" raised in Vermont, but transplanted myself and my children to Tacoma, Washington in 1989
And here she is being anything but random in pulling fabrics for her 4-squares! LOL
That looks a lot like the way I "randomly" pulled my fabrics. LOL I do admit to sorting by light and dark and placing in 2 separate bags, then pulling 1 light and 1 dark when sewing patches together. I only rejected
I just wanted to offer a word of warning though about your striped fabrics. You'll find out in many of the steps that these squares will be cut in half on a diagonal line.
Thanks for the advice Jim. I had actually thought about the striped fabrics (about removing them), but I like the extra movement that they

Snugglebug, we just lost our cat of 19 years, so I understand how your brother felt. But that little replacement kitten is so adorable, I'm sure she'll bring lots of joy to his life.

Hi everyone! This is my first Mystery Quilt and I am excited to be doing one. I spent yesterday selecting fabric and cutting the pieces. I used my June Taylor Shape Cut ruler and made quick work of it. I chose Make Life by Sweetwater for Moda because it was a jelly roll I had purchased on a clearance sale awhile back and hadn't decided how to use

  • My First Completed Quilt

This is the first quilt I completed. It was designed on the fly from a bunch of squares of Christmas fabric I'd bought on eBay. Many of the points don't line up and it certainly wasn't straight, but I love it because it was the beginning of my journey into quilting.
