UPDATE: Exciting News - my nephew was born on December 25, 2012. It was such a miracle to have him born after losing his brother way to early. I used the blocks from my great-grandmother into a quilt for my new nephew. Quite the generational quilt as my Great Grandmother made the blocks, my Grandmother inspired me to create the pinwheel blocks (she

The star and grandmothers flower garden blocks are from my Great-Grandma's collection. I cleaned them up and put this in a quilt for my nephew. The pinwheels are made from modern era reproduction fabrics. The quilting is free motion with my home machine. The embroidery was done by my hand.

Thanks ladies! Your advice really helped, so happy I posted. I would have never thought of gloves and I was worried that camera's wouldn't be allowed. I was thinking of giving it a try.

The yellow chevrons represent his rank. The corner pieces of the center medallion are fussy cut to show the Marines. The center star was a fun challenge since I was

Why do I check the bobbin thread, see that it's low and still continue on my merry way sewing... oh if only. LOL I have also found that hasty cutting leads to bad cutting. Can't tell you how many times I have set up my rules repeated the mantra "measure twice, cut once" and still not realize that the extra quarter inch allowance on

I had made a quilt for a cousin out of fabrics that reflected her wedding colors "Jenny's Quilt." While making that quilt, I learned that she was pregnant. So with the scraps I made her new baby the above quilt. They were so happy that they had her first professional baby pictures taken with the quilt. I'm not sure who was more touched
