I have always found that not washing it beforehand helps tremendously. Also, use pinking shears to cut around the fabric to stop fraying.

I recently purchased a Hang-up home organizer from Thirty One. It works perfectly to keep my current project and upcoming projects organized and I can write what I need to purchase directly on it with dry erase markers. It saves space, keeps me organized and works as a quick reminder of what I need when I go fabric shopping.

I made this quilt for a friend from Michigan. While talking one day she said she wanted something she could hand down generations that showed her family history.
