  • Re: Getting to know YOU, friends and readers!

Hi everyone, I definitely subscribe to the Quiltmaker Magazine. It is my favorite. I do a lot of scrapy pieces but usually of my own design. I am from Arizona in a town with a small quilt shop. I used to live in TN where there were several quilt shops close by. Now i have to travel 3 hours to a large shop. OH well, it is lots of fun!!! I am looking

Hello to all, I am signed up on Craftsy in the paperpiecing class as a start. I love the aspect of using strips and chain piecing. It seems to make the process more fun. Has anyone else used this method before? I am just getting started I look forward to the discussions. Tammy G.

  • Re: Hello from northern Canada!

Welcom Barb. I am a self taught quilter also. I have never attended a class. I read the magazines and use several quilting books. So far, I have enjoyed and have been able to ask questions at my local quilt shop. I recently moved from Tennessee to Virginia near Washington DC. I have not ventured out to find a quilt shop as of yet...so much traffic!

Gini and Spud, I have used those sites to. Another one I really like is sewbatiks.com I use a lot of batiks in my projects. I find the quality and selection is great.

Actually you are not lazy. I do a lot of my buying online and it always gets me in trouble. I had forgotten about this. For me it depends on how close the quilting store is. I usually buy most of my fabric from Hancock of Paducah. What about you?

  • Re: Hi

Hello. I am new the applique club. I have been quilting since 1998. It is interesting that I swing back and forth between piecing and applique. The last applique piece I made was a witch's hat as a small wall hanging to remind me of the season. I tend to applique more than piece. I am thinking about starting a new project for the summer. I have

Hi Jutta. I buy fabric everytime I go to a fabric store. I like piecing, applique and foundation piecing. I have gotten used to buying no more than 1 yard of fabric at a time unless I am going to use it as a backing to a project. I usually buy half yard cuts. It does not matter what I went in to buy, I always come out with at least one piece of fabric

  • Re: Hi from NY

Gini thanks for the wonderful information. I will set this up next time I take a trip. I used to live in the middle of nowhere but now I'm just outside of Washington DC. I am not used to the traffic though...that is the worst thing about living here. I will have to work on setting up this board. Thanks a million for this tip...Tammy G.
