  • Bull's Eye out of sewing material

A ragged edge bull's eye made almost totally from sewing themed materials. I originally learned this as a split bull's eye (cut each square into quarters and sew with 'new' friends) but we liked the material so much we decided not to split them up. Circles are hand-cut (no template) and the 'back' part cut out so the thickness

  • Thimbles or Tumblers

made out of a charm pack (plus a few) from the "mama said sew" collection. Fun for the first try with the template and using my new quilting machine!

  • Jelly Roll quilt

made with 1 set of a jelly roll (plus the extra for an outside border and binding. Backed in Minky for a super-soft & cuddly quilt. Quick & easy to make; it took more time to iron the seams than anything else.

  • iPad cover

dear Hubby got an iPad for his 35th anniversary gift from his company. Couldn't BELIEVE the prices for covers in the stores, so I found this one (chicaandjo.com) and made it up with a leather-look mat'l and used foam board on the inside. Super-easy to make!

  • Raggedy Baby Quilt

a project I'd wanted to try - a package of layer cakes (flannel) plus a few extra flannel pieces that I had. I didn't use any batting, since it is also flannel backed. 1/2-inch seams (that was hardest to remember) and all seams 'up', then clipped for that raggedy look. Cut the 10-in squares into 8-inch squares for a better size.

  • coffee purses

great fun and pretty easy to make; I used 3 magnetic snaps instead of velcro (pattern calls for either). Also used wof for handles rather than piecing them.

  • Christmas Trees from yo-yo's

the large tree took 84 yo-yo's, using the middle size circle of the yo-yo maker, OR if you're making without that template, I used 4-1/2 inch squares. These are on the styrofoam forms typically found in the floral dept. I used what was their biggest and middle size. The angel tree-toppers came from the dollar store. I also used a piece of mat'l

  • Christmas Triptych - in blues

the pieces can be purchased - they come pre-cut with iron-on to add to your own material choice. I sewed down the black (just don't trust the iron on to stay), then shadow quilted using invisible thread. Added a few embellishments on haloes, stars and kings. Made bias tape binding (so it would like nice around the top curve). Also used floral wiring

  • Courthouse Steps with a twist - for a boy, take 2

the last of 4 Courthouse Steps quilts I did for my two God-sons kidlets. The 4 quilts used material from their great-grandmother, their grandmother and me.

  • Bucket Bag - the LARGE one

I saw this at one of my favorite quilt shops and thought, "Wow, what a great idea!" So of course, I bought another tote pattern. I choose to make the large one (pattern comes with 3 pattern sizes). Once I understood the directions, it went together quickly. Used up material a friend sent from Germany, so it will be a reminder.
