  • Stop rulers from Slipping

    I spritz a little of the spray on basting, let it dry a couple of seconds and my rulers don't slip on the fabric. If you want to clean it up after you are done - Goo Gone does it great.

  • Magnet for loose pins

    I have a magnetic pin bowl, but as I travel from cutting mat, to ironing board, to sewing machine...it sometimes fails to make the trip! I have taken a small square magnet from my refrigerator (I got these at the post office) and turn them so the magnetic side is up and have one at the sewing machine, ironing board etc to hold a few loose pins as I

  • Corner of the Rick Rack quilt

    I found a great striped fabric and cut it on the bias to make the binding. I think it went well with the quilt.

  • Grandma's Rick Rack

    Made as a gift for a new mother. I loved the way it looked and I was able to use up a lot of scraps.

    Thanks, I found this site really helpful. I've checked Quiltville too. I guess what I wanted was a chart that would give me different sizes of finished blocks. Oh, well! I have tried several starting square sizes and I have about decided on 7 inch squares. We will see. thanks for the help.

  • Block size for border

    How do I figure out the size of "Delectable Mountain" block I would need to go around a border? (64x64) Also, once the finished size is figured out - how do I figure the size of the HSTs? Any help would be appreciated.

    Because my cutting mat is dark blue (and my eyes old!) it is sometimes difficult to see the edge of dark fabric when lining up my ruler. I take a narrow strip of white paper (about 2-3 inches) and place it just under the edge and I can then see the fabric. When squaring up a block and I need to see the corner I use a white sticky note stuck on the mat
