  • Re: Fear-No-More FMQers

I took a class and tried to learn to FMQ some years ago and wasn't very good at it. Maybe if I join this group and really practise I could master it. Think I'll give it a try. Nancy in Oklahoma

Hi Janice, I haven't tried to look at the video today. It was a quilting day with my friends. Probably won't be on here much until after Easter now. Let me know if you discover the reason for the points. Very interesting. Nancy

The manual says do not use distilled water. I just read the thing over again and found one thing that I had not noticed before. It says after ironing: a) turn the fabric selector to off. Slide the steam selector to off. b) Unplug the iron. Now here is the biggy!!!!! (Do not hold iron while unplugging or the scorch guards will not stay extended. Iron

Oh, I almost forgot. What is the reason for the Points under number of posts? I seldom get on here so guess I don't keep up very well. Nancy

Thanks Janice. I would like to watch that iron comparison video you mentioned but I have tried repeatedly to get the Quilt Out Loud video list and to watch and can't seem to make it work. Maybe has something to do with changes they made to allow people to see the videos free. Don't know. If you have time, could you try it and see if it works

Thanks for the tips. Well, actually I have been using Spring Water in the Oliso, which may not have enough minerals in it either. Our tap water has so much calcium in it that it will quickly build up deposits in the irons then they spit white stuff on your fabrics. We have a large tank Rowenta iron which we use Spring Water in all of the time. Trouble

Just got a call back from the technician at Oliso. He had me go though the motion of filling the iron, turning it on, etc. Of course, so far no water leaking. He was very nice and told me to give him a call back if I continue to have problems. He thinks maybe I am unpluging the iron prior to turning off it off and turning off the steam function. We'll

  • The Newest Oliso Iron

Hi Everyone - I've been a member since the beginning of QCA but seldom post. I hope some of you can help me. On March 10th I purchased an OlisoSmartIron, the pretty bright yellow one. I thought it to be a bit expensive but surely was worth it for pressing quilt blocks, seams, etc. The problem I'm having is this - every time I turn the iron on

  • Re: Fons and Porters dvd of tips did not work

Yes, I have a worthless DVD of the previous issues of Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting magazines. I complained and they sent me another one - same deal, that one doesn't work either. Who knows why. Fortunately I have kept hard copies of all of the old mags. I love them. Sure would be nice to have a video that worked.
