I totally agree that a hand quilted binding is the neatest and nicest - but if you are looking for "speed" you can machine stitch it down. That's why I gave the suggestion about sewing it by machine on both sides.

Jenn: After I sew the binding to the top, I fold it over and press it HARD with steam. Then I can follow where the machine stitching will show on the reverse side. If you get it just right, you can stich in the ditch on the front and it will look great on the reverse.

I have about 50-70 antique handkerchiefs/hankies that belonged to my Mother, Grandmother and Aunt and I would LOVE to make a quilt with them. I have seen a basic pattern for handkerchief quilts, but it required cutting the handkerchiefs - I COULD NEVER DO THAT! Any ideas/suggestions?
