I'm an Accountant by trade and a Quilter and "Family Genealogist" by hobbie. I was born and raised in the state of Washington and lived in Idaho, New York, Japan, Alaska, seven years on the Big Island of Hawaii and recently moved to Montana. I'm a mother of five with an "Empty Nest", so with lots of time on my hands I'm spending it quilting and delving into our family roots.
I've been quilting since I was 11 (43 years ago) when my grandmothers and great grandmother started teaching me. My first quilt piece was a 'Sunbonnet Sue'. My first quilt top was a "Bow Tie" block. My Mother had started it when she was pregnant with me. Twenty years later I finished the top when I was pregnant with my daughter and my grandmother and great grandmother quilted it. My daughter now has it.
My Aunt Fritzi and I are the only ones left in the family to carry on the traditon. I love to pass on quilts to family members as my grandmother and great grandmother did before me. I'm hoping someday that one of my daughters and my grandaughter will take an interest in quilting so I can pass it on to them.
