My husband and I moved to Alaska in 1993 with the military. He is now retired and we have been back since 2001. I started quilting as a child and learned to sew squares and triangles together by hand from my grandmother. Nothing much came of these blocks, but I kept them for years. Then about 5 years ago a friend encouraged me to make a quilt (wallhanging size) and I bought the material and got the pattern but was too afraid to cut the strips. So, I took a basic 9-patch class from my local quilt shop and gained a lot of knowledge and courage! I have since made many quilts for babies, and have done several lap quilts. I have just finished my second queen=sized quilt and am thankful to get back to something smaller. I love the pieced quilts best as I am not really fond of applique, but have done some. I have several works in progress and hope to get caught up sometime this summer!!!
