Hello! My name is Gina! My sister bought the membership for me for Christmas! I'm so excited to be part of Quilters Club of America!!
I live in central Arkansas but am originally from south Louisiana. I’ve been married for 17 years and have 2 sons, 12 and 14. I grew up in a family of crafters and sewers. I started with garment sewing which I wasn’t very good at sewing garments. Then it turned into sewing various crafts. I started getting interested in quilting before my first son was born. I bought quilt books, it was templates back then and I made a few wall hangings. When my first son was born my interest turned to scrapbooking! I began getting interested in sewing and quilting again when my sister, Georgia Girl Quilter began sewing quilts. Also, I scrapbooked with a friend who enjoys quilting, and she and I get together to do both scrapbooking and quilting now (not at the same time). J
I work full time. I’m a programmer. I feel like I work all the time, being in IT, I’m on-call and projects are implemented on weekends. My sons are active in sports, football, soccer and band. We are also active in our church. As you can guess I don’t sew as much as I’d like too.
When I do sew, I’m usually sewing a prayer quilt. After I began sewing again, I felt compelled to use my sewing talents to serve. I won’t go into the details but God was working on me for awhile and I came across an organization, Prayers and Squares, at http://www.prayerquilt.org/ It explained prayer quilts and how the organization got started and how to form a local chapter. I presented the idea to the church leadership and now I’m the lead person for the prayer quilt ministry at my church.
I blog over at http://www.sewmuchandmore.blogspot.com I also don’t blog as much as I’d like to. My sister, Georgia Girl Quilter, who bought me this awesome membership gift blogs over at http://southernbellessewcreative.blogspot.com/ I’m very excited to meet you and learn from you and all the resources available by being a member of Quilters Club of America!
