I live in West Texas, I call it the dust bowl lately since we have been in a drought for the past 4 years. I have been trying to prepare myself to learn how to quilt for the past 4 years, I have been stockpiling fabric and things, I finally bought a babylock embroidery sewing machine about a year ago, just know am trying to learn how to embroidery, I was taught how to sew when I was about 6 yrs old by my mother, we were not well off my any means so my mother made most of my school clothes, I started out sewing barbie doll clothes, this is one of my fondiest memories, my mother at that time worked at the 5 and dime store in town and when they would put there patterns on sale or discard patterns to make room for new ones she would get me some they were sometimes 10 cents a piece, (this tells how old I am), I would make barbie clothes out of scrapes left over. I was first interduced to quilting by a older neighbor friend back in the 80"s, I would go to her house and she would be makeing the most beautifull quilts I had ever laid eyes on. She machine pieced then had quilted them, they were just perfect. She also painted beautiful country scenes on canvas or saw blades, she sold these to the public to support her quilting habit. I also love to fish, bass and catfishing are my favorite, my husband and I used to tournament fish together, but our work got in the way so we had to pospone, he is retired now from Verizon and he still fishes but I am just enjoying learning how to quilt and embroidery on the quilts for fishing, When I retire next year there will be time for all, Can't Wait. I would like to be friends with anyone who will invite me, I like to e-mail, wish they would add a chat room to the site, this makes it easier to converse with quilting friends in real time. Well thats all.
