Here's a little bit about me. I'm married, have three (grown) children, and 5 (small!) grandchildren! I love to quilt, but don't always have a lot time. A dear friend of mine, who recently passed away, shared my passion of sewing. She told me to spend at least 15 minutes each day on my sewing/quilting, even if it's just to look at all the wonderful fabrics that you have accumulated.
I learned my quilting from my younger sister, who got me hooked. My first quilt top was a log cabin quilt. I say quilt top, because we had someone (that we thought was reputable) quilt it for me, and she took off....I never saw her or my quilt again! My second quilt was an anniversary quilt for my mother-in-law. It was in her favorite colors, and I appliqued different sequences in her life. My little sister saved me this time, as we both handquilted. To this day, she has it hanging over her bed, and considers it one of her prized possessions. I have made baby quilts, and even participated in some of the mystery quilts. I think I like those best, because I know how much I have to get done, in a certain time period. Other quilts just seem so overwhelming!
I have two friends who, every April, go to Paducah for the annual quilt show. It's so nice to spend some quiet days with friends, and do something we all love!
I'm in awe of everyone on this site, they are all so knowlegable, and I hope to learn some things as well. What a wonderful site!!!
