Began quiting lessons in 2008 at age 58. I retired in 2005 and really needed something to keep my mind and hands busy. I spent 23 years in the Army and Army National Guard and just was not prepared for so much time on my hands. I have finished 3 quilts of various small sizes. I get frustrated because I am not very good at keeping a 1/4" seam, as I am also learning to use a sewing machine. My hands just will not hold a needle to hand sew. Love my local fabric store, owned by Debbie Dorman, Quilter's Corner is a wonderful place. A classroom as part of the fabric store makes it easy when you suddenly find yourself short of materials. The ladies have wonderful patience for those of us who don't understand light, medium and dark. I like very bright and in some cases, loud fabrics. They do not always go well together.
