Hi! I am new here...I just couldn't resist joining another minute.
I am a registered nurse with a Master's degree who has now worked for 40 years, with two years off to have my two children, who are all grown up now. I worked in acute care hospitals for 30 of those years, sometimes teaching at local nursing schools, as well, and have spent the last 10 years as a legal nurse consultant. Because of rheumatoid arthritis and some lung problems as a result, I am now working only part time as a consultant for a law firm in San Francisco.
I have been married to the same man for 42 years. He is the reason I took up quilting. When I became so ill I could not work full time anymore, he sat me down and asked what I was going to do with my free time. I am an avid reader of mysteries, and he did not think that reading would be enough. So, as of a year ago, I started quilting. I originally signed up for a class, but had a flare, got sick, and could not attend. So, being the reader that I am, I began buying quilting how-to books, and have self taught myself from them. A couple of months ago, I tried to find a quilting show that I know is on our PBS station, and could not find it. My husband pulled out his lap top, and found me all kinds of on-line programs and blogs, and here I am. I do not belong to any local clubs, as I cannot go out much because of my susceptibility to any kind of bug or infection, but now I have this!
I am looking forward to learning from all of you, as well as the quilting tips and discounts, etc, that come with my membership.
