"My Secret Garden" is the end of an 8 month row robin project. Our group was talking one day about round and row robins and none of us had ever done a row robin. I have to say the row robin. All the fabric came from my stash. Wish I could show you some of the other completed row quilts. There was a lot of talent in this group of 8 women.
Everyone had their own requirements for their quilt. My only requirement was it had to be found in a garden. I did give them a list of the flowers that I have in My Secret Garden and in my other flower gardens.. But it didn't mean that they just had to do flowers. One did a hose, another a wishing well, there are birdhouses, one even put a clothesline with gardening tools on it! They even made 3-dimensional blocks. There are all kinds of methods used...ribbon embroidery, machine embroidery, red work, machine applique, hand applique, hand embroidery. I don't think there's anything left out.
I laid it out on the guest room bed and the quilt has decided it's staying put! So I've ordered a floral batik to make a skirt on 3 sides and to made a regular quilt finish at the top. It will look like a bedspread. The quilt has already been quilted by a long arm with fabric that has gardening tools.
Hope you enjoy my first row robin quilt as much as I do. I think it is a masterpiece. Thank you to my Row Robin co-quilters.
