I made this quilt out of my late uncle's farming work shirts (inside squares in the blocks) and bordered the blocks with blue/green fabric from my stash. I fussy cut some of the shirts to include labels, pockets, and tags, as much as possible. My uncle was a farmer in Iowa throughout his whole life and an avid John Deere fan (I think his blood ran green!), and passed away from a brain tumor in August 2013. The design is original--I wanted it to look like the Iowa farm fields look as I have flown over them in a plane, to simulate my uncle looking down from heaven on his farmland. I have been calling this Heavenly Farmer.

I love this quilt as your ode to your uncle.  I grew up on a dairy farm in western NY and drove many a John Deere.  This is perfect.
