This is a king size story quilt.  It tells about a musician who came to a village and began to play on his drum.  All the people of the village stopped working and began to dance. On the back of the quilt, more people are dancing and the animals are coming around the village.  In the bottom right hand corner of the back, there is a single man sitting.  He is the village chief and is unable to stop the dance. The quilting at the bottom of the quilt was made to look like waves of dust coming up to engulf the village, the top half of the quilt is quilted in leaves and houses and fields of grain.

The quilt took five years to complete.  It was hand pieced, appliqued and quilted.  I made it for a friend who likes African material.
