My daughter, a park ranger, is a world traveler during her time off from the park.  She's been to nine countries in Africa and each time, brings back fabric for dear ol' Mom.  For years...she has been hoping for a quilt from them and FINALLY, I got around to it!  I think she's given up by this time so the surprise will be all the sweeter.  Don't tell Liz, but I have enough African theme fabric for a couple more quilts....

Most of the fabric from Africa is thin, so I had to put interfacing on the back.

Wonderful. What a great arrangement. It really accentuates the fabric.

Nice!  She's going to love this!  I know what you mean about that fabric being thin.  Our church is sponsoring a village in Malawi, and they love when we can send them our cotton for clothes for the children.

Liz  - I think this quilt is extraordinary!  The placement of fabrics accented by the light framing makes this quilt pop.  Thanks for sharing

This is a beautiful quilt.  I have a friend who was a missionary nurse in South Africa just after WWII and lived there for 15 years.  Her apartment is full of African artwork and pottery and this quilt would fit right in.   The blend of colors and patterns is terrific!
