My husband's Aunt gave me some old seed sacks to use for rags. I couldn't bring myself to do that and decided to use them for the back of a quilt I was going to make for my step-son. I had seen a picture of an antique quilt that looked like an explosion and loved it. My LQS, The Clothesline Quilt Shop, sells bags of scraps that I am unable to resist and I used these to make the top. I got the block patterns from Eleanor Burn's Underground RR book. I had to make some odd blocks to make things fit but this is the result. It was quilted on my home sewing machine. The picture is from the Prairie Quilter's show in Macomb Il.

How long did this take you to make?  It's very beautiful.  You should be very proud.

Thanks Patriciajane, I worked on it about a year off and on. I would make a batch of blocks then do something else for awhile so I could figure out how I wanted it to go together. Katy
