I made this Radiant Star for my daughter Holly and her new husband Nick.  They wanted sage greens and tan, with a aplash of blue.  One of the blue had silver in it so on the border where I used that fabric I quilted with silver metallic thread.  The outside border looked like a bamboo forest with gold, so I did a piano key pattern using gold metallic thread.  Not sure if I'll use it again...it was a pain.  I quilted hearts in all four large corners and outlined them with feathers, and in the triangles that formed near the other points, I did diagonal lines outward so it looked like the star was lit up.  I was really happy with it, except that I used the blue chalk marker to draw my hearts and it wouldn't come out.  I scrubbed so much that at this point, I think I'm the only one whoe sees it, but I will never use that again!  I've heard the yellow does the same thing....I'm sticking with white.
